Leading insurance brokers James Hallam have said they are looking for an “exciting and innovative” ahead of the upcoming Business Excellence Awards Essex.

The business, which was founded in 1982 is extending its support to the New Business of the Year award which is presented to an organisation which has only been in operation for a maximum of three years.

“All businesses start from somewhere and as well as having a specialist SME division we are heavily involved with many start up organisations, tech hubs and other business advisory companies,” said the company’s Head of SME and Affinities, Graham Whyatt.

“I personally have the experience of setting up my own company, merging and selling companies, so understand the drive and passion needed to make a successful business. This is why we felt the best new business category was the perfect for James Hallam.”

As category sponsors, James Hallam will be responsible for forming a judging panel where they will review all applications for the category and select three finalists.  And it appears Mr Whyatt knows what he is looking for.

“A business that is exciting, innovative and has the people behind it and working within in it that will make a strong and long standing business. Having the passion and drive for a business is essential for success and in our experience when this is combined with a good plan and strategy this success can be achieved.”

Five Lakes Resort in Colchester will play host to the awards on Thursday 26 September with comedian Mark Dolan and popular TV personality Denise van Outen ensuring proceedings will run smoothly.

Entertainment on the night will come in the form of The Voice finalists Belle Voci and the night will also provide the chance to raise much needed funds for a deserving cause.

The UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sport’s charity, The Lord’s Taverners are dedicated to providing disadvantaged and disabled young people with a sporting chance.

A silent auction and game of stand-up bingo will take place with all proceeds going to the organisation.
